Music from the Beginning
Growing Up Inside the Music
Larry Zelaya did not discover music — he was born into it. Born in Ventura, CA., Larry had been introduced to music by his parents Maria and Tito Zelaya. His mother, Maria, was a well -known singer and dancer. His father, Tito, was an extremely talented musician/ composer in El Salvador and Oxnard, CA. It was inevitable that Larry would somehow find a passion through music. He dabbled with different instruments (drum set to a saxophone) until he came across a turn table at young age of 12.
Discovering the Turntables
His passion led him to get requests from fellow students & friends to provide mixed tapes for school dances & rallies. This led up to weekend gigs at house parties, mixing for friends who had the passion to rap and was quickly hired as a weekend DJ at a local club in Ventura.
Family and a New Chapter
A Move, A Family, and a Reason to Return
Life eventually took Larry to Washington State — a new environment, a new community, and a new focus. He stepped back from performing to invest his energy in what mattered most: raising his 4 children along side his wife Jennifer.
But the music never left him. The passion that had defined his childhood and early career stayed close, waiting for the right moment. When his family encouraged him to return to what he loved, Larry listened.
That support from the people closest to him is part of what makes Prestige Sounds NW feel different. The business was not built to chase a trend — it was built by someone who came back to his calling with purpose, perspective, and the full backing of his family behind him.

When Larry built Prestige Sounds NW, he was not just launching a DJ business — he was creating a service built around the values he had carried his entire life: reliability, genuine enthusiasm, and an obsessive attention to detail.
